This paint has been an issue since purchase. While i understand these newer cars are coming with a water base paints, I'm not sure if the cx3 "deep crystal blue" is. However upon purchase the hood had a huge scratch I refused to take ownership of, they were unable to buff it out and needed to swap the hood off another car for me to buy it. My first mistake was picking the car up in the rain.
The first thing I did when the weather broke (a mid north eastern november) was wax the car, once positive the wax sealed properly I drove the car confidently for the next 3 months or so and first warm enough day I went to reapply the wax, we are now in mid to late March, I noticed.. oh god, just so many micro scratches, looked almost like swirl marks from a rotary buffer (on this car, I apply top tier mother or McGuires wax products by hand, not buffer starting with either a cleaner wax or a clay bar treatment) this peaked my concern so I gave the whole car a once over and scratched are everywhere.
I own a 2011 Chevy Cruze ltz, in silver (I understand a much lower maintenance color) I've used a polishing compound (with buffer) and clay bar to start the waxing followed by two coats of wax, and have once used turtle wax's "speed compound" a "rinse off" lig ht abrasive compound to effectively remove 6 years of micro scratches and can successfully say the paint looks new.
I at this point july 15 of 2017, the car being approximately 7 months old, have 22 chips (to metal) in my Hood/A-Pillars, I have 5 scrathes reaching more than 4 inches in length, I have about 10 scratches approximately 2 inches in length and do not a a single surface of the car not covers in micro scratches so severe it's harder to see the metallic base under the scratches.
I'm not posting to complain , but rather I'm posting as an auto detailing emthusiast, with experience in caring for cars/trucks/SUVs of 5-10 years old, this being the newest I've owned and without a doubt being the most scratched on,e I'm confident there's not exclusively "operator error" at fault. Is there anyone with a similar experience to this with their mazda? Maybe even another manufacture and required warranty service, I need to bring this to the service managers attention Thursday and am looking for anything to tell him so I can hopefully get taken care of.
I was informed I have the best chance of this by being able to prove this is an issue many others have had, or they're going to tell me i drive too fast (avg mph 24.5) or too close to other vehicles, the car has less than 7k miles so as far as I'm concerns I could have driven behind a dump truck with his cover off and they're still supposed to cover me under my 3 year 35k mile bumper to bumper warranty.
